TECNOCONSULT was founded as a multidisciplinary company engaged in engineering, growing throughout the following years, to be one of the few Venezuelan engineering and construction companies that have become multinationals. The company adapted itself to the client demand for global engineering, procurement and construction projects becoming a leading general contractor in the market. Tecnoconsult has achieved numerous important milestones throughout its history. It was the first engineering consulting firm registered in Venezuela in 1967, when it started its activities in the electrical sector. The company began serving the power generation and transmission sector, and played an important role in the country’s development through its active participation in the Rural Electrification Program. In 1972, the company entered the hydrocarbons area. One of the first projects was the procurement and construction management of a desulfurization plant in Morón, Venezuela. Tecnoconsult continued to expand its business horizon through that decade, undertaking projects in mining, metallurgy, manufacturing and infrastructure. Towards the end of the 1970s, Tecnoconsult became the first Venezuelan company to offer a complete service of engineering, procurement and construction management, and consequently became the leader in managing large, complex projects. Its experience in electrifying rural Venezuela was internationally recognized, and the company was contracted for electricity development projects in Ecuador, the Dominican Republic and Honduras. At home, Tecnoconsult was involved in expanding Maracaibo’s Ramón Laguna Thermoelectricity Plant. That project led, in 1979, to the founding of the company’s first branch office, Tecnoconsult Zulia.
