Seaweld Engineering Services Limited, Diving based inspection, preventative maintenance and repair of production platforms, loading buoys, risers, flowlines and associated equipment.
Inspection and repair of sub-sea structures is a multi-disciplined activity. For example, in the case of jacket inspection, prior to commencing the task a model of the jacket is prepared using CAD techniques. From this model each separate structural member is identified with a unique reference. A schedule of these members is drawn up and a diving plan is prepared. This plan has to take into account ‘bottom time’ available at various depths involved. When the inspection has been completed, relevant data is collated and remedial works identified. A new diving plan is then prepared and resources and materials gathered so that the work can be carried out. Where necessary the members are cleaned either by water jet or manually. A visual inspection is done followed by NDT if found necessary. Historically, Seaweld Engineering has found damage severe enough to warrant a formal structural analysis, and subsequent engineering of the repair method. In these cases the repairs have been effected using underwater welding techniques (Wet Welding). Mechanical clamping techniques have also been used. Detailed reports are prepared and become part of the structure certification package.
