A Lifting Technical Authority will be the focal point for all heavy equipment related lifting operations in the E&P Segment. The role is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient operations are conducted at all levels. The role will ensure that processes and systems exist for identifying and managing both onshore and offshore lifting, rigging and excavation risk, develop a BP standard for lifting, rigging and excavation and manage the controlled application of these processes and its subordinate Practices (as applicable). The Lifting Technical Authority will ensure that competent lifting discipline experts are available to address all risks associated with the lifting and excavation activities of the Segments’ onshore and offshore production assets and that each lifting practitioner has, and understands, the limits of their accountabilities through the provision of competency profiles and delegated job descriptions. Responsibilities extend to ensuring that the lifting activities of the Segment comply with industry, international and local regulation and legislation. The position will liaise with any Lifting T/A’s and Lifting Responsible Persons in the SPUs to establish consistent practices and procedures for safe Lifting operations on a global basis.
