The production concept will consist of four production wells producing into two subsea templates, with manifolds, three christmas trees, umbilicals, jumpers and a control system. The wells will be tied back to the subsea installations on Midgard for onward transport to the Åsgard B gas platform. The wellstream will then be piped through the Åsgard Transport trunkline to Kårstø for the separation of the NGL. Statoil have announced three early contracts, even though the plan for development and operation (PDO) has not yet been approved. FMC Kongsberg Subsea will design and manufacture subsea production systems, such as subsea templates and wellheads. The value of the contract is just under NOK400 million. Reinertsen Engineering will design the subsea systems, such as the pipelines and control cables. The value of this contract is NOK6 million. The field will require design modifications to the Asgard B platform, to receive the well flow from Mikkel. This contract is for NOK30 million. The Mikkel gas and condensate field is planned to come on stream in the year 2003.
