Employee special responsibility and duties: 1) The Captain is appointed by Seadrill and acts as the company’s representative in matters pertaining to the safety of the ship, crew and cargo. 2) Is the highest authority onboard and is responsible for the drilling vessel’s navigation, stability and safety during operations, transfer and anchoring. The Master has the overriding authority and the responsibility to make decisions with respect to safety and pollution prevention and to request Seadrill’s assistance as may be necessary. 3) Responsible for implementing Seadrill’s Health, Safety and Environment policy and to motivate the crew in the observation of that policy. 4) The Captain shall issue appropriate orders and instructions in a clear and simple manner. 5) Responsible of verifying that specified requirements are observed. 6) Be familiar with the structural conditions of the drilling vessel and is responsible for seeing that the structural loads during anchoring or towing are within the unit’s accepted load limits. 7) Shall in situations where the safety of the crew and drilling vessel may be at risk because of technical or operational problems or because of other factors confer with the OIM, Drilling Section Leader, Chief Engineer and Stability Section Leader before making a decision. 8) Ensure safe and proper monitoring of the loading and unloading from supply vessels. He is responsible for seeing to it that the different logs are being kept, including the recording of data on the vessel’s movements (weather, wind, waves etc). 9) Responsible for ensuring that the rig’s safety organization is set up and functions. 10) Responsible for seeing that the regulatory rescue and safety drills are carried out and that the firefighting equipment and rescue appliances at all times are in the prescribed condition. The Captain is furthermore responsible for ensuring that training is provided in the use and mode of operation of all rescue and safety appliances onboard, including any precautionary measures that are to be taken in the different situations.
