The Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) is the person appointed, by the company of the drilling unit to have overall charge and responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of all persons onboard and all activities conducted thereon and within 500 meters of the installation. As such they are fully authorized and obliged to take whatever actions they consider necessary to prevent injury, loss of life, damage to equipment/structure and/or loss of drilling integrity. The OIM manages the rig by establishing goals and objectives, consistent with the Company’s stated mission, in pursuit of satisfying the requirements of both the client and shore based management.They manage the following key areas either directly or indirectly through designated department head supervisors and are the overall designated Person in Charge (PIC). Essential Functions: * Manages the operation of the rig either directly or indirectly through key supervisors in line with the Company’s policies and procedures and in accordance with the client’s requirements. * Provides leadership and direction to ensure that the activities and focus of all departments are effectively managed and coordinated. * Maintains discipline offshore in all matters affecting Performance, health, safety and welfare of all persons on the installation. * Establishes goals and objectives aimed toward improving the quality and performance of the rig in line with the Company’s stated mission. * Monitors the continuing suitability of Company standards, policies and procedures as applied to the installation, and advises management of necessary amendments. * Determines when to cease operations, and likewise determines the circumstances under which operations may resume, in line with the parameters established in the installations Operating Manual and Company Policies and Procedures. * Liaises regularly with shore based operations management to establish clear expectations and report vessel and crew status. * Supervises, trains and develops senior supervisors on the vessel including but not limited to the Rig Maintenance Supervisor, Toolpushers, Barge Engineers and STC’s
